Committees & Coordinators

General Coordinators – Wayne Steffen - (925) 779-9718, Dolores Long
Oversee and coordinate the activities of all the committees.

Childcare – Keva Henderson and Raye Nasseh,
Coordinate and supervise childcare and arrange for activities for children during construction. Provide a safe and fun environment for the children so construction volunteers will be encouraged to work longer because their kids are having so much fun.

Children Committee – Maia Belus and Candida Amigo
Children are the key to this project. Act as liaison between the steering committee and all of the children in the community. Offer a variety of simple and fun ways for children to be involved from Design Day through construction.

Donated and Purchased Materials – Ray Altamirano and ?
Acquire donated and purchased materials, arrange for delivery, and oversee their distribution during construction. Develop and a budget and be creative and resourceful to minimize costs by securing donations of needed materials.

Food – Lisa Perry and Cathy DeVito
Acquire and organize meals for workers and childcare during construction. Coordinator need not be a food-preparation professional but experience in organizing church dinners or potlucks is helpful.

Fundraising –? ,
Take charge of fundraising activities including individual and corporate sponsorship to cover expenses and provide needed materials. Work closely with public relations, volunteers, and tools committees.

Public Relations – David Madrigal and Nancy Brandt
Develop and execute public relations campaign to inform and inspire the community about the project. Act as media contact person, promotion materials lead, and support other committees’ needs.

Tools – Bob Scoble, Lyle Hatch, Larry Doweidt
Gathers all the tools needed to build the playground, distributes the tools efficiently, keeps tools in serviceable condition, and arranges for owners to pick up their tools when construction is done.

Volunteers – Mitzi Reagan and ?
Collect and organize names and contact information of potential volunteers, work with other coordinators to line up sources of tools, food, and childcare

Design, Special Features, Special Needs – Tim Forrester, Lori Ogorchock
Artistic elements and accessibility needs of the playground

Safety, Sanitation, Security – David Kundert
Recruit and organize construction captains, lead safety program, arrange for overnight site security

City Liaisons – Dave Sanderson, Ahmed Abu-aly
